Education
Mesa State College's
Montrose campus provides Associates degrees in five areas of study, and the
opportunity for bachelor degree seeking students to begin their course of
study. The Montrose Campus maintains fully networked computer labs, library
support services, and the opportunity for students to participate in
activities such as student government. Many classes are offered in the
evenings to meet the needs of working students.
The Montrose Campus of
Mesa State College is available to create specialized education and training
opportunities for your company. As an example, the Montrose Campus, in
conjunction with the area's manufacturing companies, recently developed a
Technical Certificate in Manufacturing Supervision. This program was
created in direct response to an expressed need for advanced training for
present and prospective supervisors in manufacturing companies.
Delta-Montrose Technical
College: Their
mission is to provide career and technical certificate programs and courses
in health, trades, technical, and business fields at the secondary and
postsecondary levels. The programs are designed to train students for
entry-level employment, to provide retraining, or to upgrade the job skills
of our students.
They provide practical training to assist students in meeting
the needs of employers in business and industry. Training programs are
designed to enhance the employability of our students by helping them
develop life and job skills and work habits. Assistance in upgrading basic
educational skills is also available.
All of their faculty members are qualified instructors in
their respective occupational fields. They are credentialed by the Colorado
State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. Certified
instructors in licensed programs are also approved by the state licensing
board for their respective occupation.
The
RE-1J school district
school district provides quality instruction to 6,183
students, in six elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high
schools. They have a highly qualified professional staff—over 50% of our
licensed employees hold an advanced degree.
In 2004, one of our teachers was selected as the Colorado Teacher of the
Year and was recognized by President Bush.
We are a standards based public school district, whose
mission is that all children will learn at their optimal level. Nearly 80%
of our graduating seniors attend post-secondary institutions, both in
Colorado and out of state. Each year, our graduates earn over $1,500,000 in
scholarships.
Our business community is actively involved in our success. Our
superintendent holds bi-annual “Superintendent’s Cabinet Meetings”
encouraging local business partners to be informed about our achievements,
challenges and goals. A community group, “It’s About Pride” was
instrumental in passing a $23,000,000 bond/sales tax package that allowed
150,000 square feet of new construction to be added to our campuses. Our
high schools offer a course, Career Options Seminar, where our students are
mentored by area businesses.
Mesa State-Montrose works closely with the to enable qualified Montrose High School students
to pursue college level studies at the Mesa State Montrose campus as a part
of the individual's academic plan. For more information please
